Truth in Teaching & Textbooks
Education should impart information that is TRUE, and help students develop critical analysis and judgement. Critical thinking in pursuit of the truth has made possible the highest achievements of Western civilization.
ISLAMIC groups are targeting universities and schools, trying to rewrite history and change Australian culture.Textbooks are corrupted by incorporating pro-Islamic materials which distort the truth. Lesson materials are supplied which present a deceptively positive view of Islam as a belief system, culture and civilizing force. The anti-Semitic tone and Islamic propaganda content undermines the credibility of our education system.
Examples of pro-Islamic bias:
Contrast; "Jesus is believed by followers to be the messiah" with "(angel) Gabriel continued to send revelations to Mohammed over 22 years." The first statement is categorized as Christian belief, the second as Islamic fact. In another example, a textbook writes: "Islam encourages people to live a life of tolerance and peace". Overwhelming historical and contemporary evidence proves the opposite.
The notorious booklet "Learning from One Another - Bringing Muslim Perspectives into Australian Schools" instructs children that "Tolerance and respect are important values, but a vibrant cosmopolitan culture moves beyond them and embraces diversity. Embracing other cultures... opens the door to cultural synthesis."
Islam is intolerant and harsh to women and non-Muslims. Does Australian culture need to embrace this diversity?
Further attacks against the cause of truth in teaching come from the the politically correct. Their 'black armband' view of our history and culture seeks to undermine national unity and harmony. They selectively emphasize the evil done by "white men" and amplify accusations of "racism and genocide". In so doing, they purposefully degrade Australian progress over adversity and the value of our traditions and institutions. The politically correct particularly hate our Anzac ideals and deride those who take pride in our heritage and national achievements.
